The much-anticipated second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform soon, and fan speculation has been rampant.
Season 1 presents a large cast of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by musical numbers about their clashes, and builds heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that drive fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season vary widely, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will a fan-favorite character escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator stated earlier this year. "But I believe that me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by the production companies, which finance the series.
That might mean fans have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how fast the new season progresses, and how much of what they're anticipating unfolds now.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some incredible disclosures, some really cool backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about season 2 — particularly in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a couple people create a bingo card about the new season," she says. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've actually done a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
